Do I operate on my own brain?
Take every section out and rearrange
I wish I could be as lovely as she
But you told us we were never meant to be
[pre-chorus]
She’s got herself a college degree
And I’ve got problems which are plain to see
[chorus]
I’ve been driving through the red light
Watching as she holds you so tight
Will I ever say I’m alright?
‘Coz maybe I’m a wreck and a mess
So tell me if I’m wrong but I guess
Dying hurts a little less
Her family are so well-off
They’ve got a second home in Barbados
And don’t invite me to your wedding day
‘cuz I’ve had ours planned-out since our first date
[pre-chorus]
She’s got herself a college degree
And I’ve got problems which are plain to see
[chorus]
I’ve been driving through the red light
Watching as she holds you so tight
Will I ever say I’m alright?
‘Coz maybe I’m a wreck and a mess
So tell me if I’m wrong but I guess
Dying hurts a little less
And I’ve got problems
And I’ve got problems
And I’ve got problems
And I’ve got problems
Will I ever say I’m alright?
[chorus]
I’ve been driving through the red light
Watching as she holds you so tight
Will I ever say I’m alright?
‘Coz maybe I’m a wreck and a mess
So tell me if I’m wrong but I guess
Dying hurts a little less
The verse "Can't even buy a coffee without exploiting someone" got me. It really hits hard. For the entire length of the album it felt like the end of the world.
But to be perfectly honest, it's just how life is these days. And it's fucked up. szczur
This album hits like a ton of bricks. I can't say how long it's been since a band reached me like this, but I can't get enough. The driving rhythm, the ghostly floating leads, the haunting and direct lyrics, the desperation in her voice... Powerful. Jaycee
New York duo showcase an enigmatic blend of math rock guitars, pop-punk sing-a-longs, emo confessionals, and even rave-ready synths. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 15, 2023
Bouncy, jangly power pop with a slash of acidic shadow, as the very best twee always has. From Boston, they met at band camp (not Bandcamp). Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 2, 2019
the evolution of citizen is almost identical to the typical depiction of human evolution. As you please strays from the previous releases while containing raw emotion. ghøstbødy
