I’m such an awkward mess
All around me are swinging jaws
Is this something I’ve got to do?
Everyone acting like we’ve got nothing to lose
[pre-chorus]
I’m just a floating balloon
With no wind to carry me through to the next room
[chorus]
I don’t belong here
Can we act as though that ain’t so queer?
I don’t even like this beer
But I was told I’ve got to put myself out here
Are we speaking the same language?
I can’t be the only one not having fun
So I’ll force another drink
In hopes it stops my over-thinking mind
[pre-chorus]
I’m just a floating balloon
With no wind to carry me through to the next room
[chorus]
I don’t belong here
Can we act as though that ain’t so queer?
I don’t even like this beer
But I was told I’ve got to put myself out here
Too many pretty faces
Every one craving for a one-night fling
I’m a hopeless romantic
Get attached way too easy
I’m such a cry-baby
Old mind in a young body
[chorus]
I don’t belong here
Can we act as though that ain’t so queer?
I don’t even like this beer
But I was told I’ve got to put myself out here
Every one craving for a one-night fling USSTT1900024
The verse "Can't even buy a coffee without exploiting someone" got me. It really hits hard. For the entire length of the album it felt like the end of the world.
But to be perfectly honest, it's just how life is these days. And it's fucked up. szczur
This album hits like a ton of bricks. I can't say how long it's been since a band reached me like this, but I can't get enough. The driving rhythm, the ghostly floating leads, the haunting and direct lyrics, the desperation in her voice... Powerful. Jaycee
New York duo showcase an enigmatic blend of math rock guitars, pop-punk sing-a-longs, emo confessionals, and even rave-ready synths. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 15, 2023
Bouncy, jangly power pop with a slash of acidic shadow, as the very best twee always has. From Boston, they met at band camp (not Bandcamp). Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 2, 2019
the evolution of citizen is almost identical to the typical depiction of human evolution. As you please strays from the previous releases while containing raw emotion. ghøstbødy
